Apple bags $120m from Samsung over “Slide-To-Unlock” feature!

Starting back in 2014, Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung over the Slide-to-Unlock feature and Quick Link patent. The Quick Link feature turns addresses and phone numbers into interactive links for the user. According to Android Central, the $120m settlement fee Samsung has been asked to be by the U.S. Supreme Court is only a bit of the $2b Apple’s lawyers were original asking for.

Our argument was supported by many who believed that the Court should hear the case to reinstate fair standards that promote innovation and prevent abuse of the patent system. – Samsung.

It has also been reported that Apple will be dragging Samsung to court May next year. Apple claims that Samsung stole their iPhone design. Samsung might be paying $400m for damages.

Also on patent issue, an Israeli company is suing Apple over dual-camera patent violation. The company is called Coreophotonics and they are makers of dual-lens cameras. They are claiming that Apple used their cameras in the iPhone 7 Plus and 8 Plus. Apple did purchase LinX, an Israeli company similar to Coreophotonics and it’s likely LinX produced the cameras used in the devices. No word yet on how much the company wants for damages but I’ll let you know as soon as I get it. Watch this space.
